Welcome from the President:

Thank you for visiting the website of the West Virginia Code Officials Association. We are the organization of professional building code officials, inspectors and plans examiners, design professionals, construction industry and supplier representatives all across the state, promoting and supporting the State Building Code.

We exist to provide training leading to ICC Certification, provide our members the information forum on national and state code matters, legislative proposals and actions and further the goal of maximum professionalism in our chosen vocation. We are the West Virginia Chapter of the International Code Council (ICC) and Participate in national code change hearings and voting. We are also members of ICC Region 7, representing ICC chapters in WV, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware, expanding our voice in national code matters and providing a regional exchange of code-related training and information.

The WVCOA conducts ICC training seminars three times annually, the Thursday and Friday prior to the ICC National Paper and Pencil Test Dates. The tests are conducted on the second Saturday in March, June, September and December and are held at Days Inn Conference Center, Sutton, WV. The WVCOA holds membership meetings, including an annual election of officers and directors, at least three times a year on the Thursday afternoon of a seminar. The Board of Directors meets the Tuesday evening prior to a seminar, any member is welcome to attend. We also join with AIA West Virginia in their annual EXPO at the Charleston Civic Center in April of each year and provide a training seminar for our members and EXPO registrants. We have and will continue to co-sponsor training anywhere in the state.

Call me or any officer or director for more details West Virginia law now requires all building code officials, inspectors and plans examiners to document not less than 4.5 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits, 45 contact hours of instruction to maintain WV Certification.
